Our Inspiration
The Solace Spot Inc. is a non-profit organization with a 501(c)(3) designation. The organization was founded in memory of Jonathan Rivers, a father of six who's life was tragically ended in 2014. His family's difficulty in finding adequate support and resources to cope with their grief, particularly for his children, was the impetus behind the creation of The Solace Spot Inc.
Losing a loved one to gun violence is a traumatic experience that leaves many in a state of despair, struggling to cope with the complex emotions that come with unexpected loss. It can be challenging to find the appropriate resources to help navigate the legal aspects of a violent crime, much less provide the necessary support to help families heal. The Solace Spot Inc. recognizes these challenges and is dedicated to providing resources that make the healing journey less overwhelming. They understand that grief is unique to each individual and that traumatic grief, can be particularly challenging to recover from.
The organization offers a range of services to support families impacted by traumatic grief including counseling, support groups, advocacy, training and educational resources. They also work to raise awareness about the impact of gun violence on families and communities.
